Anti-aging rosacea skin care

Do you have rosacea and have you been searching for an anti-aging skin care routine?

After a few phone call inquires here at Dr. Bailey Skin Care regarding anti-aging rosacea skin care options, it is time to revisit Dr. Bailey's blog post: Anti-Aging Skin Care Options for People with Rosacea. As Dr. Bailey notes, anti-aging skin care is especially tricky for rosacea-type skin because any strong acids or rough exfoliation can trigger a flare-up.

However, Dr. Bailey has managed to help her rosacea patients not only get their rosacea under control, but also incorporate a gentle anti-aging rosacea skin care routine. For anyone testing out an anti-aging rosacea skin care regimen, Dr. Bailey emphasizes:

Each patient’s skin is unique and I customize the approach based on what they can tolerate. Rosacea is easy to provoke and so there is no way to predict how a person will do. I, of course, can’t say if your skin would tolerate these anti-aging options and I recommend that you see a dermatologist for specific recommendations and treatments. - Dermatologist Dr. Cynthia Bailey

 Anti-Aging Rosacea Skin Care Options

1. Exfoliation

Gentle exfoliation with a scrub such as Exfoliating Facial Sponge can work for some rosacea-type skin. Dr. Bailey encourages her patients to use the Facial Sponge with extremely gentle pressure in the morning so they can enjoy bright skin during the day. You may only be able to use this method twice a week, but it provides an avenue to remove dead skin cells. Extremely sensitive skin probably can't tolerate any physical exfoliation, but if you can, this is a good option.

Use mild cleansers, such as the Extremely Gentle Foaming Facial Cleanser or Toleriane Cleanser. Another option is Dr. Bailey's Calming Zinc Bar Soap This popular face soap helps many people with rosacea and rosacea/seborrhea combination of skin problems. during any anti-aging rosacea skin care routine. Dr. Bailey usually recommends that a person use the Extremely Gentle Cleanser during the day and Calming Zinc at night.

2. Skin Care Products

Dr. Bailey has found retinoids such as retinol and Tretinoin cream (aka Retin-A) are the most tolerable anti-aging product for rosacea-type skin, more so than AHA's or Vitamin C products (both are acid pH products). In order for rosacea skin to tolerate retinoids such as retinol and tretinoin, an additional supportive product is needed to soothe and calm the rosacea. Dr. Bailey recommends for her patients to use Calming Zinc Bar Soap and Green Tea Antioxidant Skin Therapy. This product combination is so popular and universally helpful for her rosacea patients that she combined them in her Redness Relief Kit.

best skin care to control rosacea and anti aging

Relief and results at last! I have suffered from seborrheic dermatitis & rosacea for more than 20 years. After using these products for one week, my dry scales are gone & the redness from my rosacea is gone. No more itchy and stinging facial skin. Also, slowly but surely the bumps associated with my rosacea are disappearing. Tamara V, May 06, 2020

best anti-aging skin care for rosaceaOnce your rosacea is under control, slowly introduce tretinoin or retinol cream just once or twice a week. Gradually advance to nightly application. If a flare-up occurs, stop your tretinoin or retinol application and calm down your rosacea before resuming. Dr. Bailey recognizes that anti-aging rosacea skin care is a tricky and delicate process, but it is worthwhile for many to enjoy retinol or tretinoin's anti-aging properties. Retinol is known to be less irritating and easier to tolerate than tretinoin. Both are well-proven to fight skin aging and Dr. Bailey loves them both for anti-aging skin care. Her Retinol Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream contains green tea to help calm skin while the retinol works.

3. Cosmetic Services

Calming facials by a medical aesthetician have been helpful for Dr. Bailey's rosacea patients. The calming facials soothe rosacea-type skin, allowing the skin to tolerate gentle exfoliation with the Exfoliating Facial Sponge and retinol or tretinoin cream. The interval between facials is every 6 weeks and it is important to find a medical aesthetician that is familiar with rosacea skin or understands a "calming facial."

Bottom Line for Anti-Aging Rosacea Skin Care Options

There are several anti-aging skin care options for anyone with rosacea, but it requires significant caution and care. Always discontinue exfoliation or retinol/tretinoin during a rosacea flare-up, and slowly reintroduce them after calming the rosacea.

Dr. Bailey's Rosacea Therapy Skin Care Kit

Dr. Bailey created her Rosacea Therapy Skin Care Kit to help people with rosacea build a highly effective skin care routine to support rosacea healing. It includes the right moisturizer and sunscreen to help protect rosacea-prone complexions from dryness and UV rays that are known to trigger rosacea. With rosacea under control, it is easier to add a retinoid, such as her Retinol Cream.
