For skin tolerant of most acne products there are many powerful options to heal your acne.
Facial acne can be annoying and even affect your confidence. With proper treatment, you can reduce your acne and be on your way to a clearer complexion.
If you are dealing with facial acne, chances are it is facial acne vulgaris, the most common type of acne seen as pimples, cysts, and blackheads. This acne often first appears in your classic T-zone, but eventually spreads to involve your entire face. How you treat your acne breakouts will vary based on how tolerant your skin is to acne products.
Below is my simple, four-step acne treatment for facial skin that is tolerant of most acne treatment products. Follow these 4 steps to keep your skin healthy and able to resist dryness while you treat your acne. I call this Complete Skin Care.
Dr. Bailey's Complete Skin Care Routine to Treat Acne
Treatment includes these 4 steps:
These 4 steps are done in this order twice a day (sunscreen is only needed during the day!) Follow this program and banish your facial acne!
I've created a kit of compatible products with the first 3 key steps in your acne treatment routine. It's my Ultimate Acne Solutions Kit and includes medicated cleanser, acne treatment cream and the most acne-friendly moisturizer to fight skin dryness.
Step One: CLEANSE
Best Cleanser for Acne
Use my Foaming Acne Treatment Cleanser twice a day to thoroughly clean your face. This medicated cleanser also starts to correct your acne problem because it combines 10% glycolic acid with 2% salicylic acid. It works well for oily skin, but won't over dry normal skin. The wash gently lifts oil and unclogs pores to prevent and treat your pimples.
Step Two: CORRECT
Best Products to Treat Acne
If you have excessive oily skin or need to remove facial oil after sports or in the middle of the day, use my Acne Treatment Pads with glycolic and salicylic acids.
If skin redness or excess oil is a problem you may want to consider using Green Tea Antioxidant Skin Therapy to help fight inflammation, replenish skin antioxidant reserve and reduce oil production.
Green tea antioxidants have also been shown to help decrease skin oil production and reduce acne. I highly recommend adding Green Tea Antioxidant Skin Therapy to your acne skin care routine. Apply it under the Daily Face Cream. Made with the equivalent green tea antioxidants as found in 500 cups of brewed tea this pharmaceutical grade product is the best antioxidant in my opinion.
Step 3: HYDRATE
Best Skin Moisturizing Creams for Acne to Prevent Dry Skin
Everyone needs to prevent skin dryness. Even oily complexions can become dry and dehydrated, especially when using acne treatment products. That's because the best ingredients that treat acne can be slightly irritating. This leads to weakened skin barrier, loss of skin water, and skin dryness - no matter how oily your skin is!
I recommend that everyone top their medicated acne treatment products with a good oil free moisturizer. My top choice is my Daily Moisturizing Face Cream for Oily to Normal Skin. This ultra-light feeling moisturizer protects from dryness with an advanced formula made with aloe vera, glycerin, squalane, vitamins, antioxidants and more.
Step Four: PROTECT
Best Sunscreens for Acne to Prevent Hyperpigmentation and Skin Aging
Finally, be sure to use daily sun protection to prevent hyperpigmentation of acne scars and to improve your overall anti-aging facial skin health. I recommend only mineral zinc oxide sunscreens. My Sheer Strength Sunscreens are all oil free, will not clog pores, are non-irritating, give your skin broad spectrum SPF UV protection with invisible zinc oxide, and feel ultra-light on your skin.
Choose from Sheer Strength Pure Physical Spray Sunscreen (it also rubs in well to facial hair) or Sheer Strength Pure Physical Tinted Matte Sunscreen. Top with Sheer Strength Pure Physical SPF Refresh Powder with iron oxide to block visible light that can also cause hyperpigmentation problems.
Rid yourself of facial acne with a dermatologist's treatment routine. Start with my Ultimate Acne Solution Kit and build up from there to gain control of your acne fast.
