Retinol Skin Care
Retinol is the single most important non-prescription skin care ingredient to fight the signs of skin aging, second only to sunscreen. Retinol, like all retinoids, is in the vitamin A family. It is the best retinoid available without a prescription. Unlike prescription tretinoin, retinol is much less irritating so that even people with sensitive skin can often use it. Also like all retinoids, retinol is inactivated by light, making it part of your bedtime skin care routine.
What does retinol do in skin care?
- Retinol stimulates skin collagen renewal.
- Retinol helps stop the breakdown of skin collagen from UV sun exposure.
- Retinol brightens your skin's appearance by helping to even out skin pigment and smooth the skin’s surface.
- Retinol helps reverse crepey skin.
- Retinol stimulates skin production of water-binding hyaluronic acid for a more youthful and dewier look and feel to your skin.
My medical-grade Retinol Anti-Wrinkle Night Creams are made with the highest allowed concentrations of retinol at 0.5 and 1%. You can’t get stronger. My Advanced Corrective Eye Cream has an appropriate strength for the highly absorptive and easily irritated eye area so that you can benefit from retinol in this important area.
I’ve used retinoids on my own skin for over 35 years. In fact, every dermatologist I know sleeps with a retinoid on their facial skin. - Dermatologist Dr. Bailey
I also apply retinol to my neck, chest and the back of my hands.
