Dry Skin
Your skin looks dry and feels rough or tight when it loses both water and its natural skin oils. Your skin is supple and has a dewy silky look and feel when it is well hydrated and ashy flakes have been sloughed. My dry skin care products are dermatologist-level products developed to clinically prevent and treat dry skin.
Dermatologist care for dry skin
- I use a combination of humectants (water binders) and occlusives to keep skin hydrated and reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL).
- I rely on creams, ointments, butters and oils to replenish precious barrier lipids and ceramides in your skinโs outer waterproofing layer called the stratum corneum.
- I recommend only gentle skin cleansers and soaps that don't strip away these precious natural barrier lipids.
- Lastly, I tell everyone that it is important to apply moisturizers right after cleansing skin and toweling it dry to trap and hold water inside skin. I call this 'the magic 3-minute rule'; apply moisturizer within 3 minutes after toweling skin dry.
Drinking water is important but it doesn't treat dry skin any more than taking a bath quenches your thirst. You treat dry skin using the right skin care cleansers and moisturizers. - Dr. Bailey
I have the right combination of natural soaps, lotion, butter and oil plus medical-grade moisturizers with glycolic acid, ceramides, squalane and phospholipids to treat all causes of dry skin. Glycolic acid and gentle physical exfoliation also help slough ashy skin flakes that give skin a chalky look and rough feel. My products also contain a combination of glycerin, hyaluronic acid and other humectants to hold water inside the skin longer.
You will find everything here to keep your skin well hydrated, healthy and soft using the best ingredients from both science and nature.
