ZNP Bar Soap was the only available bar soap at Walgreen's and other pharmacy retailers with the maximal allowed level of 2% medicated pyrithione zinc for many years. As of 2011 ZNP is no longer available. At the time, I was told by Stiefel Labs, the producer of ZNP, that the ZNP shortage would continue at least until 2012 due to troubles with its Mexico production facility, which made their ZNP Bar Soap at that time. ZNP is back and it contains cocamidopropyl betaine, which was named the Allergen of the Year in 2004 by the American Contact Dermatitis Society. ZNP Bar Soap also contains fragrance, which I don't recommend due to allergen potential and the ambiguity inherent in that term that means phthalates may be included also. Phthalates are included in many artificial fragrances. They are known hormone disruptors that accumulate in aquatic ecosystems.
