Why Would a Dermatologist Blog about Skin Care?

Thank youMy dermatology practice provides plenty of work to keep me busy - really busy actually. If you're one of my regular readers, you may have noticed that my blog, Facebook page, and Twitter account have been quiet for a month. It's because I've been even busier than usual. I think things have calmed down now and I can get back to writing about skin care for you, which is something I love to do. I love it because it's soul satisfying to help readers from around the world who have hit a "dead end" with their skin problems. My blog and social media activity on Facebook and Twitter have connected me with a world of people, many of whom are working hard to understand and solve their skin problems - but they're frustrated. I write about what I do, about what I think, and about the skin problems I treat as a dermatologist ... and then I get the most heart-warming thank yous from people around the world who don't live anywhere near my Northern California dermatology medical office. People send me their stories in emails, Facebook and blog comments, tweets, and notes attached to their product orders. They pop into my medical practice daily and it's extraordinary. Tenacious, clever, frustrated people are struggling to control embarrassing and life-impacting skin problems, and then they find an answer on my blog - wow! Here's the sort of heart-warming story that comes with a customer's order:
Hi, I just wanted to thank Dr. Bailey for these products. I've had a seborrheic dermatitis problem but did not know what it was. It started out a few years ago as a small spot near the side of my face. I thought it was some type of allergic reaction to a facial product that I had started using. It went away but came back furiously last year. It got progressively worse. And I mean really severe, to the point that I didn't want to go anywhere because even makeup wouldn't conceal it. I finally decided to go to a dermatologist in July of this year. I was in tears because (the rash on my face) was horrific and wouldn't go away. She basically told me to use a shampoo like T-Gel or Head and Shoulders to wash my hair because it was due to my scalp. I did as she recommended and purchased Nizoral, Head and Shoulders, and the T-Gel for my hair.  I used these products for about a month before returning to the dermatologist. My face had not cleared up, and in fact, it was getting worse. After trying several home remedies (organic jojoba, organic coconut oil, organic honey, tea tree oils), all to no avail, I was frantic and desperate. I came across Dr. Bailey's site searching the topic of seborrheic dermatitis. I ordered her Facial Redness Relief Kit praying that it would help, even though I really didn't expect it to. I can honestly say my face is so much better and is still healing.

So I thank you for introducing to this miracle solution. It has helped me feel so much better about my face. Sincerely, Thomasina
Experiences like Thomasina's are why I blog and why I've put my skin care advice and product combinations on the web. I'm a practical dermatologist and have learned a lot of good tricks and tips over my years of medical practice. Sharing them with you is wonderful and soul satisfying, and it's nice that my schedule has settled down so that I can get back to writing for you. Photo: Thanks and gratitude to Woodleywonderworks
