Face and Body Expo Northern California 2013

Aestheticians, Please Join Me at the Face & Body Skin Care Conference in Northern California

Face and Body Expo Northern California 2013The Northern California Face & Body Expo is a great educational event for licensed aestheticians who want to stay abreast of the latest advances in professional skin care. This year, I'm speaking on rosacea at the Advanced Educational Conference Program for aestheticians.   If you're a licensed aesthetician/skin care professional, I hope you will be able to join me at the conference in San Jose on Saturday, August 24. As one of my readers, you can save $25 on your registration (details are listed below). In addition to an all-day business summit, the Advanced Education Conference Program features new condition-based tracks this year, including:
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Anti-aging
  • Acne/Rosacea
  • The Body
My program, which is in the Advanced Educational portion of the show, is titled The Many Faces of Rosacea, A Comprehensive Guide for the Aesthetician. If you're a licensed aesthetician, I would love to have you in the audience! Register for the conference at When registering, enter my last name (Bailey) in the promo code field and you will receive $25 off the registration fee! While creating my bio for the program, the show director asked me why I had chosen to speak at the expo and what  I love most about my role as a skin health educator. I'd like to share our conversation with you. Show director: What is your current role in the professional skin care industry?
I have three distinct, but interrelated, roles in the skin care industry. First, I am a practicing dermatologist with a busy general and cosmetic dermatology practice. I’ve practiced dermatology full time for more than 25 years. Second, I’m the director of the med spa that I created at Advanced Skin Care and Dermatology Physicians, Inc. We offer laser, IPL, injectable fillers and toxins, chemical peels, and full aesthetician services. Because I’m first and foremost a medical dermatologist, clients/patients benefit from the “clinical” team approach that they receive from our doctors, nurses, and aestheticians; together we create and deliver effective treatment plans for even the most difficult complexion problems and sensitive skin types. Our goal is to restore and to maximize skin health. Third, I’m the founder of, which is an educational and retail website for people with a variety of skin problems. I provide physician-quality information on the common problems I've treated in my practice for 25 years. It's a pleasure for me to write articles for my readers and outline how I approach treatment of the common skin problems that they suffer from. Most importantly, I’m trying to help readers create effective skin care routines for themselves so that they can have healthy complexions that they're proud of.
Show director: What actionable ideas will skin care professionals take away from your class?
Skin care professionals who take my class will gain a better understanding of how to treat their clients with rosacea; they’ll know which procedures will be successful (and which will lead to disaster!) and what products to recommend. They’ll learn that all rosacea is not the same, how to differentiate the different rosacea types, and why the proper treatments and products are radically different for each rosacea subtype. They’ll also learn to tell rosacea from some of the most common skin problems that can masquerade as rosacea.
Show director: What inspires you as an industry professional?
The skin is every person’s biggest organ and it is what makes up much of our outward appearance. This means that the quality of everyone’s life is inextricably linked to the health and aesthetics of their skin. That’s where we, as skin care professionals, come in and it’s why what we do matters so much.
If you're a licensed aesthetician, I hope to see you at the expo! (Don't forget the code to save $25 on your registration!)
